The Monastery’s Old Age Home Stay

The monastery plans to extend its compassion to the elderly people of the village by offering them a place to reside within its nurturing environment, allowing them to engage in spiritual activities that bring peace to their minds. Generally, Bhutanese elderly people feel happy to be at the monastery when they are old and retired. They engage in Dharma activities such as reciting mantras, turning prayer wheels, circumambulating temples and stupas, receiving Dharma teachings, and participating in ritual ceremonies.

The elderly residents are also provided with food and lodging, fostering a sense of community and spiritual growth. Currently, due to limited facilities, only a few elderly individuals can be accommodated, while most have to stay in their village. To address this issue, we are planning to build a separate old age home within the monastery vicinity.
